I'm Currently Feeling: | Ecv Well I have a history for starters so dont want to scare anyone - apologies.
I have a 22 year old and a 20 year old. Last March I had a fullterm stillbirth due to a cord accident. I am now 35+6 weeks with our precious Syd. Since day 1 I have been assured I will be delivered at 36 weeks, due to losing Jacob.
A planned induction for 22 August - yep tomorrow!! Last scan last tuesday and guess what she has turned breech! Panic is not even close. I was offered and initially accepted ECV as an option BUT since I have done some research - fetal distress is likely and so is cord entanglement - something I cannot even contemplate risking - so tomorrow we are in for an elective section - unless she has turned of her own accord. A section at 36 weeks is a concern but they would not be contemplating it if they thought it was a huge problem and yes its major surgery which does scare mw somewhat - but it feels like we have to do it and am trying hard to positive.
I would definately not opt for a ECV I guess is my opinion.
Love Kate

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks so much to the OP, and to everyone else who has contributed to this thread !!!
I forgot to mention yesterday that Mia is back to back, as well as breech, so they would be doing a turn both ways
I phoned the day assessment unit this morning, to find out if they had the paperwork there, saying that I have a heartshaped uterus. My MW at the surgery yesterday wouldn't even take it into consideration as it isn't in my Mat Notes... reason being that I was told about the heartshaped uterus at a very early scan, before I'd even got my notes !! Anyways, the mw at day assessment unit was an absolute Gem, and said that as soon as I come in for my app on Tuesday, tell them, and they will chase up the paperwork, as I wouldn't be given an ECV with this problem. I also explained that I am really nervous, and she told me that was perfectly understandable. If I dont feel comfortable, then they will book me in for a c-section no questions asked. My choice She did say that roughly half of the women who come to the appointment don't actually go ahead with it after the initial consultation. So there you go. I won't be bullied after all
Thanks again for all the support girls |

They would either do an emergency c-section or you could discuss the possibility of delivering the baby vaginally given that this is your third. Also, the success rate of ECV's and babies spontaneously turning are higher in women who have had previous pregnancies. You're more stretchy apparantly!! - what a flattering description! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks girls for your posts, it's interesting to hear from other people in the same position. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and my LO is also breech. I know there is still time for him to turn on his own, but as he has been breech since about week 22, I'm not really expecting him to decide to turn now.
It's really useful to hear others experiences so I can decide whether I want to go down the ECV route or just go with the c-section option. At the moment I really do not like the idea of an ECV especially when you see the stats and hear the risks involved.
Fingers crossed he turns on his own...

| Thank you for this thread and everyone who has contributed, I guess there's a number of us who have had breech babies/whose baby is currently breech and it's a scary and disappointing position to be in when you we have to consider the ECV, to try for a vaginal birth or go with an elective CS.
I was in hospital at 28weeks due to baby trying to make an early entrance, when I had a scan to check on her she proved to be breech, I feel my tummy every day and to me it doesn't feel any different, as what I thought was her bum turned out to be her head and apart from it getting bigger, I still feel what i believe to be her head above my belly button although at my 34 week appointment this Tuesday the MW believes that she has turned some point during the past 2 weeks. I hope she's right (having a scan at 36 weeks to double check anyway) and if so then it provides hope for others that baby can still turn, no matter how stubborn we think they are lol.
I just want to wish luck to those who are having a CS and those who opt for a vaginal delivery. Please don't feel pressured into having an ECV done, my MW talks to me like I should have it done if still breech but after reading about it, there's no way I'm prepared to take the risks involved.
Good luck to everyone |

| Ive just been searching for ways to move babe and came across this on babycentre website:
In one study of 71 breech babies, 65 turned when their mother adopted the knee-chest position. To do this, kneel on your bed with your bottom in the air and your hips flexed at slightly more than 90 degrees (don't let your thighs press against your bump). Try to keep your head, shoulders, and upper chest flat on your mattress. Maintain this position for 15 minutes every two waking hours for five consecutive days.
Alternatively, try lying on your back with your hips slightly elevated and your hips and knees flexed. Gently roll from side to side for 10 minutes and repeat this manoeuvre three times a day. If you have had any backache, pelvic pain or hip pain during your pregnancy, do talk to your midwife or physiotherapist before you try this.
