Not scared of labour - normal?

Lets get one thing straight, I know when it happens I will be absolutely sh*tting myself but at the moment, im not phased by the thought of labour.
When I think really hard about it and what COULD happen, I panic and get very nervous about it, but generally, im just excited. Saying that, every time I get a little twinge I start worrying.

Is it really as bad as everyone says? Im scaring myself now because im thinking about it

I have to admit, the thought of labour doesn't phase me in the slightest... As I've said in a different post... Mention a C-Section and I'm gone - The idea of a C-Section scares me sh*tless. But normal labour, I don't have a worry in the world.

I'm quite confident that my body will know what to do, its what the body is made to do in a way.

Also I've spent months and months reading, watching childbirth DVD's and full antenatal classes on DVD, to the point where I've taken notes etc while I'm sat watching them.

I haven't had an Antenatal class yet either, my Midwife couldn't get me booked in for that until I'm exactly 38 weeks...

I'm sure when the time comes I'll panick like a big girl, but hey, my OH is a big girl at the best of times, so rest assured they'll be scraping him up off te floor before they do me!

I'm not scared of labour per say, I'm scared of tearing. I know that sounds ridiculous, but if there was no risk of tearing during birth, I wouldn't be scared of it at all. I have developed a tearing phobia or something

I think the horror stories are just more to do with the "time" we live in... Everything is reported much better these days so to speak... So you hear of it more often.

50 years ago things were different and the medical knowledge was so much less.

If that makes any sense. lol

With my first, I was more scared of showing off my lady bits, etc. to anyone in the room, and having all watch me while going through contractions and delivery.

Was never scared of labour or C-sections.

some days i'm more nervous about it than other days. Scared is perhaps too stronger word. The thing that gets to me is the fact that i don't know whats going to happen to me or when. I think i'm actually more worried about havin a baby to look after!

I'm not feeling too worried at the mo either!! I'm sure I won't be saying that when labour actually starts tho

I just figure that there's no point in worrying about it as I'll only get freaked out. Also women have been giving birth since the dawn of time and our bodies should know what to do

Ask me again in another six weeks or so and I'll probably be a gibbering wreck

xx

I'm only scared that my bits will be used as a tunnel afterwards.
