Baby names - top ten

Hi
Just wondered if any of you have deliberately avoided picking 'popular' names for your baby ie those which are usually in the Top 10 or so in the list of Baby names published every year. There are a couple of name me and my hub like but i have heard people comment on how 'common' they are and I feel like I am being put off them slightly.

What do you all think? Share your names here!!
xx

I thought the name I picked wasn't particularly common.. but it seems to be getting really popular all of a sudden !!!

I haven't checked on the lists actually.....

We decided to pick names that aren't as common (I hope) - my name and my OH's are quite common and so we didn't want our LO to have a really unusual name either - the names we've chosen aren't obscure but I think/hope they're not going to have to go to school with 2 or 3 other people with the same name as them.

We picked Jacob as its classic....(dont know if common) but also so it can be shorten when he is older to Jay or Jake. I did like Joshua but my OH's best friend is called that and as much as we love him, im not naming me son after him XxX

Same over here. I picked out Ava because I fell in love with it and didn't know any Ava's.. now loads of people around the place are calling their daughters Ava. My Mum's friends daughter has just found out she's having a girl and she's calling her... yep, Ava. It hasn't put me off the name though although I like to point out I chose it first Mine will be born first anyhow so she's the copycat. Hmph.
