| i really tried to pick unique names for my children but, then media caught up with that. Riana Bella Hunt, for my first. In 2005.
Gabriel Matthew Hunt.
My next children will be London Elizabeth
And/or Jacob - which is a common name. But I treasure that name.
Shortly after I named my daughter Riana, alot of people started liking riana/reana/rianna/rihanna because of teh singer Rihanna.
Who became popular later that year.
So hey, I tried. Ahaha. | | | | Status: Offline

| We are seriously geeky in our house (both work in IT). DH built a database with the last 5 years of popular names so as we think of one we like we can input it into the system and it will pop up with how many kids have had that name in our province as well as it's popularity rating.
We are trying to avoid the "having lots of kids in the same class with the same name" thingy. | | | | Status: Offline

| Didn't avoid it we actually had Thomas at one point but DH went off it and we've settled on Edward. We had Alice for a girl from the start, well even before the start | | | | Status: Offline

| We chose Kian for our son as at the time it wasn't that popular, but it is now!!
We still have decided for this one though. Maeve and Martha are names we keep coming back to. Still got time to decide.
I like names that are a little bit different. | | | | Status: Online

| We are avoiding more popular names. I just remember there being a bazillion Emma's, Lisa's, Sarah's & Louise's etc at school, they're all nice names, but a bit boring when you share them with half the girls in your class.
We still haven't chosen one though, seems that all the names we like are really popular right now, sods law! | | | | Status: Offline

| Both the names we chose were slightly different, not unheard of or weird just not names that many people use i guess. I didnt want them to have other people called the same name cos i always hated that at school, but i didnt want it to be weird either ha ha!! | | | | Status: Offline

| WE picked astrid not because it was unusual but just because we like it. The fact it was slightly unusual is a bonus though. I am however going off it a bit to be honest and really really like the first name Verity. The only problem (my OH says) is that baby would be called Verity Lambert-Smith and verity lambert was a famous TV producer (she did Dr Who). I mean seriously, did anyone here actually know that!?!?!
Oscar isnt too off the wall either I suppose, no idea how popular that is. We are still open to changing it although there are less boys names we like. | | | | Status: Offline

May I add he isn't being very sucessful. He chose Eleanor so I think it's only fair I get Harry | | | | Status: Offline
