We dont have any cats... just a big, old yellow lab! haha... he defnately was checking out the baby stuff too... But he is part of the family and sleeps in our room (and on the bed) so there is no point trying to keep him out.

Plus he loves kids, he has experience playing with our 2 small neices and is an absolute doll around them.

Ive got a cat and his really inquisitive but ive kept the door shut where the baby stuff is i dont want him near any of it. I also dont want him thinking he can go in when the baby is sleeping. His always out killing mice and birds and even frogs lately theres no way i want him kipping in the moses basket ewww lol. I always keep him downstairs at bedtimes even now when Benn is sleeping. He wouldnt dare go in Benns room now though as ive always kept him out he knows not to go in there. I remember when Benn was little i forgot to shut the kitchen door and he managed to get upstairs and i found him sniffing round in Benns cot the second he got chance from then on i always made sure he wasnt able to get up there.

We've not put everything up and together yet and won't until baby comes in order to avoid our two cats curling up in them and thinking it's theirs. That's the stroller and the car seat is up high on a closet.

They've explored the baby's room but the mattress for the crib hasn't been delivered yet. They haven't shown too much interest except that the changing table gives my fat cat better access to the window as a interim launch pad.

We're planning on putting a net on for the first few days to see how the cats do.

However, most in my family have had cats and dogs with new babies and for the most part they settle in after a few days, you just need to watch them and establish boundaries.

My cats really hate crying (even me) so I'm thinking they'll be hiding in the attic until the baby is 18

Does anyone have first hand information, studies or reports, or whatever, that cats will ACTUALLY curl up with babe, and POSSIBLY cause suffication? I think it's an old wives tale, I would like to read more on this, if it has actually has happened.

I have 3 cats, 18 month old and 2 kittens that are bout 16 wks. The eldest is rite anti-social moo, she looks at you with rite contempt if her food is not given to her 1st thing in the morn. and the 2 kittens are just mental, i think they are gettin high sumwhere on Catnip.

My mum is paranoid that the cats will suffocate the baby when he/she arrives, i told her im not gonna go out n leave that cats babysitting!!

Im sure it has happened, ive never actually read bout it, but i bet Google can prob help.

We have a very well behaved cat who is terrified of noise. She is nine and has always slept on our bed and we are planning to have baby in his mosses basket in our room.

We have been worried about this too. We are pretty sure that our timid cat will stay well clear of our baby. However, we have bought a net for the mosses basket which we hope will help to keep baby safe.

I bought a 'Clippersafe' net from Kiddicare.

my little mogs have been a nightmare our baby stuff is in our room and as soon as I set up the moses basket my cat was in it Ive now resorted to covering all baby stuff with sheets so they dont gt covered in cat hair the item Ive had the worst problem with is the baby bouncer the cats love it. as soon as she is born they will not be allowed in the bedroom so Im just putting up with it for now. Lve your mogs guys they dont realise its not for them hubbys even said can we keep the moses basket when bubs grows out of it and use it as a massive cat basket
