Birthing Pool


Hi girls, just a quick one have any of your used a birthing pool for previous labours? Or do you know anyone that has.

I am considering it just wanted to know how you got on and more about it etc

I think you can buy them/rent them on the internet. Probably some cheap ones on Ebay. I think some hospitals and birthing centres use them as well, but obviously on a first come, first served basis. I know Aberdeen has one! I am not sure if you are even allowed to give birth in it, I think you can just float around for a while in it for pain relief. I am going to give birth there, so I am hoping it is free.

I used a birthing pool at hospital when i was in labour with my son.

It was great, found it eased the pain but obviously doesn't stop the pain!!

I ended up getting out and giving birth on the bed though.

Plan to use one at home this time, not sure if i'll give birth in it or just use it for pain relief. Will see what happens.
