C Section Question (for those who have had one)

This could be a stupid question, I thought of it in the middle of the night on one of my "run to the toilet before I pee the bed" trips.

When you have a C Section scheduled, so you haven't begun going into labour yet, what happens to your mucus plug? Do they leave it in and it eventually falls out?

Also, with the placenta does the doctor surgically remove it or after the baby is out, does it loosen and he just grabs it?

lol, the things I think about while peeing.

i assume the mucas plug is loosened during the procedure anyway with all that tugging and pulling, but the surgically remove the placenta once the baby is out.

You still bleed after a c-section, so it will come out along with all of that

Funny, because you think that if you have a C-section there would be no bleeding after right? Not true. It happens and mine last for 3-4 weeks.

They do surgically remove the placenta and, quite truthfully, I suppose the mucous plug goes somewhere. However, I do think that is taken care of too in the procedure as I've never experienced what people describe as losing their mucous plug during the bleeding after.

My planned section became an emergency one when my waters broke day before it was booked! I didn't lose my mucus plug, the placenta was surgically removed.

I've been bleeding since but very light and its tailing off now - had the section on 3 July. I've recovered really well and can actually get about really well.

The only problem I'm having is a bad back which I've had for years anyway but carrying Alexander around is straining it.

It just gushes out

My mum had a C-section & she was carrying waaay too much water. So much so my brother couldn't move out the position he was in when he was in her womb. He was wedged in her right hand side the whole pregnancy

When they made the c-section incision my mum said the fluid gushed out & there was so much & so loud one of the nurses jumped lol
