Blood Pressure

I know some of you girls are on tablets to lower you blood pressure and I was just wondering at what stage did it get too before these were perscribed and will you have to be induced because of high blood pressure at all!!

My last appointment on monday was 130/92 and Im going back for weekly check ups now!! Considering at my booking in it was just 110/64 and the appointment 2 weeks previously was just 140/82! Its risen quite a bit in the space of 2 weeks!! I cannot see that it is going to get any better just hoping it doesnt get worse!!

But what happens if it got higher!!

thanks

hi hun

i was prescribed the tablets after 2 admissions to the assessment unit. according to my notes my highest reading was 146/114 which is very high (this was on my 2nd admission to the assessment unit). it was at this point they put a needle in the my hand and the SPR wanted to induce me there and then and get me ready for a C Section! (i was 36 weeks the following day). however, it was decided to try me on drugs and keep me in overnight to see what happened and my bp came down very quickly so beanie was left (thank god)!

at my last antenatal appt (last week) the consultant says as the pills are working well with me they would like to leave nature to do its thing. however, i have a scan booked a week tomorrow to check the growth of baby (will be nearly 39 weeks by then) and my bp. he hinted they may not let me go beyond 39 weeks but i am not sure what will happen.

if your bp continues to rise i would imagine they will give you pills and monitor you closely. and if you get the same ones as me you will be sleeping all the time so at least you will get some sleep!

my bp has slowly risen during the course of the pregnancy but the last month it has been awful. at my booking appt it was 130/75!

hope this helps - try not to worry.

the tablets im on now are nifedapine, labetanol and something else i cant remember !!*excuse the spelling* dont panic too much though when i was at exactly your stage as in 34 + 6 i was taken in and i was delivered the next day...my bp had just gone too stupid to control though which is why it happened that way, ask your doc for medication now if you feel thats the right thing the midwives all said to me that docs and professionals need to listen to the mothers more as mothers intuition is so unbelievable and normally spot on

I was taking meds for high BP before i found out i was pregnant as its in the family, they changed the brand and dosage straight away afterwards.
I take 3 Methyldopa tabs a day and my BP has stayed at 130/80 throughout being pregnant. Its been checked regularly by my midwife and all had been good.

Im being induced on monday, but im gonna be 13 days overdue by then so its about damn time, lol!.

we are fine thanks, a few concerns but hopefully they will be sorted out soon enough...they have told me that i may be on my medication for 12 months which sounds ridiculous to me as my bp has come down but its 140/85 approx and with such high dosage of meds thats still high apparantly. My friend was on them for about 3 months and then they gradually weaned her off them in total about 4 months and a bit

hope that helps

i was on bp meds before finding out i was pregnant but the doc is watching to control the dose. I think to help your chances to get off the meds after babs is born is to watch your salt. I can feel my bp going up when i have had to much salt.

Hi, i've had high bp for about a year before getting pegnant and so have been on meds for most of that time. I had to swap from my exisiting tablets as soon as my pregnancy test came back positive to a safer type. Ive recently had the dosage highered a bit, and im being monitored often now to keep an eye on it. No one has mentioned the actual birth yet, whether the high bp will cause any problems or if ill need inducing etc. My husband reckons they wont push me too hard as i get easily stressed and my bp can go up easily if im not carefull. Im begining to think ill end up having a c-section if i cant cope, even though id like to try for natural as possible. Im just scared ill panick and bp go up.

For me high bp is all down to stress and not diet, ive proved that! (still try to eat healthily etc though!)

thanks! i am glad you are well and wee tom.
i really cannot face being on these meds much longer. i feel like death warmed up. i can barely stay awake and have just woken up from yet ANOTHER nap. i am not sure how i am supposed to be a mum and wife when i am feeling like this. i am also really worried that i won't be able to breastfeed while on these meds as i read on another post by someone they won't be able to breastfeed due to their high blood pressure meds
