Nappy question

Hi!

Soon I am going to have to think about buying some essential things for my baby. It is a bit daunting, especially when you are faced with the 'essentials' list you find in most baby books and magazines!!!

We are intending on using reusable nappies. I was wondering if any of you have any experience of using reusable nappies and how you found it. Also, what brands would you reccommend (I heard that Bamboozles is quite good) and how many do you actually buy for a new born baby? Someone told me that it is better to buy just the first stage of nappies first in case you don't get on well with reusables - would you reccomend this as well or would you splash out for an all the way through pack (from birth to toddlers - very expensive!).

Thanks! Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm limited on choice in Australia...I prefer huggies because they leaked a lot less then the other brands we have.

Hi,

I've also gone for Bumgenius (got them from the natural baby resource at the NEC baby show but they are online too). In the end after looking at all of the different choices it was between them and the tots bots.

We got 20 and they are all one size so you don't need to buy more as the baby grows because they are adjustable. They should last us hopefully till we potty train.

I don't have baby yet so haven't actually tried them but they are great to wash and dry very quickly (unlike the tots bots ones).

HTH

i would start with disposables. i too want to use washables but the smallest i bought (a stuffable lite) was way too big for his newboron bottom and he got all wet. i bought a variety of washables and will try them when his adorabe bottom grows. i'd advise u to do the same before investing in a full set,

i bought some Little Lambs, natures babies ,stuffable lites mother ease, fuzzibuns and swaddlebees. a great site, and very friendly and helpful service:

I've got Totsbots Bamboozles, I have got 20 nappies but also got some disposables too until I get into the swing of things... I have heard the first poo's are well rank too so would rather just chuck this in the bin than have to scrape it out of a nappy & wash it lol.

anyway, the cheapest I've seen are on Kiddicare.com. I got mine from Toysrus with the voucher they sent to me in the parentclub magazine thing that they do etc..

The bamboozles are absolutely gorgeous & cant wait to use them!

Mel x

Also, just want to add this...if you do use reusable nappies, your local council may have a scheme where they give you vouchers towards them. Kent County Council (I live in Kent) gives £30.

North Yorkshire Council also do this - woo hoo!

Haven't bought mine yet but I think I'm going to go for Bumgenius, one of my friends has used these and she thinks they are fab!
