well when i went for my parent craft class all the midwives there said its a known fact that the labour wards are really busy when there is a full moon.
its something to do with gravity.

one midwife said that if its really busy in the labour ward and they look out of the window there is a high percentage that there is a full moon.
so you never know. im guessing it all depends if baby is ready but it may start something off.

Ah Mrs N, really feel for you. My baby has started to engage but is still reaching the back of my throat when it moves (or so it feels).
Just think though, all your womanly bits are actually designed to do the job...whereas I don't think they made any dispensation for your lungs and diaphragm to take a battering. Your LO is big now and still stretching out. When he/she's on their way out though they'll be going in the right direction.
Just keep hold of those positive thoughts from your antenatal classes. Every pain in labour is good pain and not actually harmful to you. Think of the hardest exercise you've ever done and how it made your muscles burn...and then think how big that muscle the uterus is! That's why it hurts in labour. You'll feel completely different about it when it all starts to happen.
Can't wait till Friday...I can just imagine there will be a lot of us sitting looking out the window willing that full moon to work it's magic on us! xx

Hi there, I thought I was the only one who becomes distressed when the baby starts kicking, stretching and moving in the evening/night. I too have been in tears because it hurts and because it lasts for hours. Last night I fell asleep sitting up in bed because every time I laid down the baby would kick my ladies bits which sends a shooting pain and makes me cry out. Having said that, I am not at all nervous about labour because I will be in a controlled environment with professionals and pain relief and my wonderful husband. My MW said I should think of every contraction as a positive pain because it's a step closer to meeting my baby. Be strong, keep a clear mind and I'm sure you will be fine.

All the best.

Hmm, my sons movements aren't painful at all at the most they are just a lil' uncomfortable, but then again he's tiny and so am I.
Maybe your just expecting a big little one? Did your doctor give you weight guestimates? Surely the bigger s/he is the more the movements are going to hurt, and also depending on how much water you have around the baby etc.
I know what you mean though I was having 'false-labour' contractions and OH DEAR SWEET JESUS I THOUGHT I WAS DYING! Still can't wait for labour though!

Hi,

Firstly it is normal to have such strong movements, it is a great thing.

Secondly remember that your adrenaline will be pumping so that will help you cope with the pain, so will the gas and air, and water birth is meant to be brilliant for pain relief, but what ever happens if you need more pain relief that is okay, the best birth plan is one that is flexiable, and your care givers will be use to women changing there minds.

i've been feeling sick all day today and when she moves around it's been really uncomfortable. and also it has been hurting, under the bump, and i wonder whether this is the BH that i don;t think i've experienced yet. i'm getting to the stage where every pain and movement feels like it's going to start something off. i'm really upset cos i just want to rest, after a day of clearing up the house, OH is pacing around: he wants his tea. i don't want to make it. i've told him i feel ill and that i'm tired and that i've been having mild contractions... is he bothered? no. will he make food/show concern? no. sorry - i've hijacked your thread...i too also feel like crying - if i can;t cope with this...how am i going to cope in labour? i haven;t really got his support have i? scary thought...
