I'm Currently Feeling: | Baby Boom !!! Everyone is pregnant !!!
My sister is 10 weeks..
My friend Jasmine ( who is over in first trimester ) is coming up to 12 weeks... ( she's had a really bad day today, so could do with some hugs in her first tri thread ).
And everywhere I seem to look, there are pregnant people... especially at school !!
On a different note... my Mum told me today that my sisters blood results came back from some tests she had done just before she fell pregnant. Sge'd been bleeding constantly for about 8 weeks... She has hemaphilia !! I don't know much about this, so if anyone can shed any light on the subject, and how it affects pregnancy, it would be greatly appreciated. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Your sister has haemophilia?
Oh god!
But I thought the deasease is only inherited by sons from their mothers.
I had no idea a girl can actually have it.
It's basicly an illness in which the blood doesn't clot,so you bleed profusly even after the tiniest scratch. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't really know anything about hemophilia, but it's good that they know it, so they can keep a close eye on her.
And I know what you mean about everyone being pregnant! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Yeah... see this is what me and Mum can't understand. She was really accident prone when she was younger... and she rides horses and competes alot, and once had a really bad accident and got kicked in her ribs... broken and internal bleeding and all sorts... but she's never been a major bleeder with all that. So how come, when they've now discovered that she's a hemophiliac !! We're a bit confused.
The only big prblem we have, is that when asked who in the fmily has it, she couldn't say. We are half sisters... same Mum, different Dads... but we know no medical history from any blood family as we're both fostered.
Do you think I should ask to be tested for it, if only to see if I'm even a carrier, which would signal more that it's from Mum's side, and if I'm not.. then it will be her Dad... all very confusing !!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Only boys can get haemophilia from what I know. My sister did have a form of it as a chilld. If you touched her she would have hand prints on her and she was in a wheelchair as she couldnt walk as the soles of her feet would bruise. She had a nose bleed which would not stop....very scary.....but they treated her and she got better after about 3 months in hospital. That might have been because she was only 4. Not sure how that kind of thing effects pregnancy......
I'm sure they'll be right on top of it though now.

I'm Currently Feeling: | No harm in being tested even if it is only to be on the safe side XXX |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well,it's very strange. The mother is the carrier of the gene, that gene she could have inherited from either mother or father. They pass the illness on their sons.
But in about 30 % of cases when it comes to Haemophilia B there is no genetic reason,it's caused by gene mutation.
So that could be it,if it is then there is no reason for you to test.So first ask her which one she has... |
