Does anyone know around when this starts to happen?
And does it hurt?

I've been getting some pains below my belly and my BF mentioned about the baby's head being engaged.

It would be a bit early for the head to start this isn't it?

At my last midwife appointment i was told that baby probably wouldn't engage until around 37 weeks as its my 1st. Sorry i can't be of more help.

i sore m/w today and told them i have been getting some pains below and it feels very heavy and like she is pushing out, i got told its her head moving into the pelvis im only a few days behind you so maybe thats what it is

at 36 weeks i was 3/5 engaged. it feels like pressure down there and loosens up a little more space in your chest, your mw will tell you whther you are at your next appointment when she examines you.

when midwife feel position of baby will she be able to tell if its engaged??

Yeah she will feel and be able to tell you. I had my 34 week appointment on thursday and he was still free even though I have been suffering with really bad pains down there. She said she wouldnt want him to be engaged yet anyway and he still has time. The pains you mention are probably just the extra pressure. She told me to make sure im doing pelvic floor exercises as its supposed to help.
