I'm Currently Feeling: | been in hospital stupidly high b/p hello just on here for a chat thought i would tell you all about the last 24hrs.
i wasnt feeling to well so my sister brought her b/p machine around and my b/p was 158/101 so i went quickly to the doctors and it was 170/101 i was sent straight to hospital iv never stayed over night in hospital before so i was a bit scared but it was very nice they treated me very well, in the morning it was nice to because you help yourself to breakfast in the breakfast room and get to chat to all the other mums anyway when i arrived at the hospital my b/p was 142/92 no protien in urine i kept getting checked and these where my readings
142/92
167/100
170/101
160/100
then i had a blood test when came back fine (full blood count)
146/96
went to sleep bed was so uncomfortable
morning b/p
147/97
153/101
161/95
really wanted to go home by this point was so fed up, they so kindly told me the risks of high b/p especially that high eg strokes which prob raised it more. anyway iv been prescribed labetabol (beta blockers) very lose dose and i was allowed to go home but had to return at 6pm as there was no community midwifes avalible to come to me went to hospital b/p 140/84 still high but medication is working and then got checked this morning its 144/86 got to go get checked again tomorrow, the meds are horrible i feel really spaced out, sleepy and very itcy scalp, side affects which can last for 2 wks.
im seeing a specialist next week to disscuse what will happen next as iv been told i can not carry full term i will be induced between 35 and 38 wks but they will try go for as long as possible, but no longer than 38wks as there is to much of a risk, doctor also said it is not pre eclamsia because i have no symptoms but that it could end up being it later on, as im only nearly 30wks and its early for me to develope high b/p this high anyway, there more concerned so iv now got to be monitered alot, up untill past wk or so my b/p was always aorund 100/60 so it is very high now, im very upset cause i feel fine but im getting told im not, that im not to be alone, that i cant even go shopping iv just got to sit in. sorry for such long post but felt i had to just go on one. also if it dont make much sense sorry hard to type when drugged up lol hope everyone else is ok and i just wanted to say girls make sure you relax lots |

I'm Currently Feeling: | hi sorry you are going through this, i am also on labetalol 200mg twice a day, but i have been on them since having my first daughter in 2001 they just increase the dose in pregnancy as that is when my bp rises the most, my bp has been steedy so far between 80 and 90 bottom number, they dont do much until the bottom number rises to 100 + as this 80-90 mark is good for me, my bp was once 200/110 and yes they did keep me in for a week that was on my second pregnancy, i was put on strict bed rest.
well hope this pregnancy carries on good as i dont want to go into hospital and leave my three children.
hope you feel better.. |

i am really sorry to hear what you are going through. i am in a very similar situation. my bp is high too and it is getting checked every second day by a community midwife. last friday i spent the entire day in the assessment unit only to be let home with a bp of 138/88. in the morning my bp had been 150/100. i also had +++ protein in my urine and felt very dizzy and sick. blood tests ruled out pre ecalampsia but the consultant classed me as 'borderline'.
yesterday when midwife checked my bp it was initally high but went down to 140/90 which isn't great either. she is going to be speaking to the consultant ob about it......
they are speaking of inducing me at 37 weeks which is just over a week away as i am 36 weeks on saturday! i am really scarde to be honest with you....i fear for my beanie and like you the prospect of a stroke and health risks to baby and self are devestating. blood pressure inreases when in labour so will i get a C section? I don't want one of those
i really, really do hope everything will be fine for you. at least you are on medication now which will bring your bp down (sorry they make you feel ghastly) and this is best for you and baby.
Christine

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bless you I hope the tabs carry on working and you can cook beanie for a bit longer...
As for the c-section question.... I think as long as you have an epidural, you should be allowed to at least try for a natural birth, as epidurals lower blood pressure... and if it got bad, then you would already be prepped for surgery anyways |
