| question about my waters breaking. hi girlies.
ive been thing what do i do if my waters break.
i know that when they do break i need to call hospital and go into hospital but how long do i have to get to hospital.
if my waters break while hubby is at work, it will take him about 20 mins to 30 mins to get home and then the hospital is about 30 mins away but all depends on time of day and traffic.
will i be able to get to hospital in time?
when your waters break the midwives say go into hospital straight away but what is classed as straight away?
im not worried about the time that bay comes its just the time they want us to be at hospital.
sorry if im running on but hope someone can answer my question.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Not sure on this one hun. Was actually talking to my mum about this last night and she waited 2 days before going to hospital with my brother after her waters broke all because she didn't want to be induced. (Which she was anyone lol) Obviously it's not advisable waiting that long but you will have time. |

| I'm a first time mum but this is what I understand.
Your waters can break quite a while before Baby arrives. My mum's waters broke at 34 weeks with me but she was in hospital a week before I showed up. However, once your waters have broken there is an increased risk of infection so they like to have you in hospital. I also believe that they induce if no sign of contractions after a couple of days now, for the same reason.
Hope this helps |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I don't think you need to rush to the hospital when your water breaks.
It all depends on the strenght and lenght of your contractions. If they are still not very strong by the time your water breaks you don't have to go straight away...but be sure to call your midwife or a maternity unit so they'll tell you wether you should wait at home and relax before the big show or to come in... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My waters broke before i even had any contractions with my first. I called the hospital they told me to wait until i had contractions before going there. So i had a shower and got things ready for an hour. But it turned out he had poo'd in me so i had to go there straight away anyway. Id say call the hospital straight away when your waters break and see wot they say. Ive got the same problem my bf works 35 mins away and then its another 20mins to the hospital. Fingers crossed my waters break when his at home! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | At our antenatal class we were told that if our waters go we should call the delivery suite and they will probably say to have a shower and clean up and go in as soon as your ready.
However (AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!), if your waters are green or black or discoloured in any way, you must get to the hospital urgently, as it is a sign that the baby is in distress and has opened their bowels and as such the baby must be delivered ASAP. |
