High Fundal height???

morning ladies, I had my 28 week appointment yesterday which was all ok except for my fundal height which measured 30 and should be around 27. We looked at the growth chart and the midwife said if he grows at this rate he will be 5000g which is 11 pounds! I probably wouldnt be allowed to go to term and Id probably have a c section. I was a bit shocked and asked about gestational diabetes and she said I need to try to cut out sugar and caffeine for the next 4 weeks and she will check again then. I have been drinking normal tea and coco pops but surely this wouldnt create a 11 pound baby!

Has anyone had anything like this? In my brilliant book it only talks about being small for your dates not being big for your dates.

You're fundal height is normally the same as how many weeks you are so you should be 28cm. I have been measured big each time but only by 1cm and when i questiuoned this my midwife said that you can normally be up to 2cm either side before they have to worry about it.If she isn't too worried ie leaving you the 4 weeks then i wouldn't worry to much you'll probably find next time you will even out and it might be a number of different things causing this sudden spurt in size. Don't stress yourself too much even though i know it's hard as i did this at 25 wks and was trying to measure myself and everything but it aint easy.

I agree with debs!!! Babies grow at different rates and think its crazy your midwife worked out how much the baby could weigh!! Because it is unrealistic that your baby will continue to grow at that rate!!
My friend at 36 weeks was measuring 40.... her baby came 11 days early and baby still only weighed 7lb 9 oz!!
Dont worry yourself hun and like Debs said shes happy for you to go another 4 weeks and if theres another big increase they will put you in for a growth scan

Good luck

Im worried now iv read this! I had an apointment with MW at 24weeks and she said i was measuring 26 but never said anything more about it. She then also said 'oh.. baby is very high up.. maybe because your so small' (im 4ft11) So im guessing maybe for most people at that stage baby isnt usually that high up. But at my 4D scan when i was exactly 25wks they measured babys head and it came up on the screen '27+'
should i be worried?!! Does it mean i could have a big baby.. ? =|

your baby could just be having a growth spurt!! And 2 weeks out is nothing to worry about!! Its generally 3 weeks out they look more into it!!

Im sure everything is fine

I've been measuring big for ages now...

At 29 weeks, measured 32 wks,
At 33 weeks, measured 38 wks!!!!
At 37 weeks, measured 42 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And that's with LO 3/5 engaged aswell!!!)

I had the glucose tolerance test for GD, and that was negative, so MW referred me for an opinion at the hospital and the consultant wasn't in the slightest bit bothered and said they wont even do a growth scan as it's just not accurate enough!!

However I know of others on here (like holsx) who was measuring big (although not quite as big as me!!) have had a scan, and have been induced early!?!?!

All I know is I feel as big as a detached house, the extra weight is playing havoc with my SPD so I'm having to use my crutches even more right now, I'm miserable and could potentially have another 3-4 weeks of this!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm in a radgie mood today!!
