Doctor says I am too Fat :(

I am so depressed this morning. I had my appointment with the Doc (no midwives here in France) and he told me I have put on 10kg since March, bringing my total weight to 85kg/13.4stones!

I knew I had put on some weight but didn't realise it was so much, the doctor said I had to eat less, but I didn't think I was eating much more than usual, though I do drink a hell of a lot of milk at the moment (nearly 2 pints a day), it's the only thing I crave!

I am just so miserable about it, I wasn't exactly skinny when I fell pregnant, but was a reasonably average size 12, and until early June was still riding an 8 mile round trip every day on my bike.

Is too much weight gain dangerous for baby? Am really worried now! I am 29 weeks...

I've not heard that too much weight gain is bad for the baby. I don't think 85 kilos sounds huge at all. I guess the doc might be concerned that it's not good for you to be too heavy as your body will need to work harder and it can put extra strain on your joints etc, but I really can't see that you are anywhere near a weight that would cause concern. Lots of people weigh over 13 stone and they're not even pregnant! I wish doctors would be a bit more sensitive about things. Try not to let it get you down. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

wtf! get a new doc love, hes talking out his arse!!!

im usually a size 12 and around 10half stone, i put on a few stone just before pregnancy and im now 15 stone.
my midwife says im fine!

you cant possibly eat less, your eating as much as you need! i eat less now than before i fell pregnant, but the weight has still piles on. its just a pregnancy thing and the weight will drop off soon after!

dont get yourself upset about this, i could understand what your doc is saying ive youd put on 10st but just a few.... he wants fireing from his job!!!

i weighed just over that before i even fell pregnant lol, with my first son i gained 3 stone during pregnancy (and that was AFTER i had given birth i weighed myself) and he is perfectly healthy its just me that is paying the price for eating to much, i went on a diet and then fell pregnant with this one after losing 1 and half stone, but i cant diet whilst pregnant and i know i will gain loads but i dont mind that because i can lose it afterwards, dont worry yourself your baby will be just fine hun xx

Don't diet, just make healthier choices maybe? Like swap full fat milk for half fat and have an apple instead of a bag of crisps or something. I've gained 6lbs already >=( I'm aiming for no more than 2stone but it isn't looking very likely LOL My friend went 1 week overdue and managed to gain an entire stone in that week =|

Id get a new doc

Weight gain is just part of the package in pregnancy, your doc should know this and making you feel bad about it, is disgraceful.

Blah11 I do eat healthily! We are pretty much self sufficient, so about 70% of what I eat is grown here in my garden, and we don't grow crisps

I drink semi skimmed milk too, though my nan and mum keep telling me I should be on full fat (I only have full fat on my cereal in the morning).

I think they are a bit anti fat here in France, I never see fat women (apart from old ladie's). The doc said I should gain no more than 1kg per month of pregnancy, so no more than 9kg in total, I have gained 10kg in just under 5 months, oh well.
