Nothing, not a word, has been said about my weight gain and in fact, in my notes it is written high BMI+++ due to hypothyroidism. Because of the huge weight gain (I always watched my weight, by the way) I asked to join Slimming World's program for pregnant women for which you need medical approval. My consultant has refused this request saying he does not want me to diet at all during my pregnancy and just to keep eating healthy for the baby. I also do not get weighed because the focus is on the baby, not my weight. And I think that is where it should be.
For the record, I am a lifelong vegetarian and do not drink cow's milk (rice or oat milk for me). With all the weight gain I do not have pre-eclampsia, no protein in my urine, no high blood pressure, good iron and hemoglobin levels, etc. And I am now a UK 24/26.
I think as long as you keep a healthy diet, your weight will only matter after the baby is born. That is what I am dreading, but I know I will lose it as I've done so before. |
Sensible post. Refreshing words. And damn those bloody French!!!! Tee hee!! I eat really healthily, always fresh and healthy produce, I just like a lot!! As long as your health is not in immediate risk your baby will be utterly safe. Your Doc should think before he castigates people like that. Really unreasonable. Find another!!!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Get shut of that doc hun..... it is not within his rights to say that to you. There is no min and max guide of what you should/shouldnt gain during pregnancy.
Every woman is different.... some carry lots of fluid and others carry little.
xoxoxox Dont worry hun |

Find another!!!!! | I agree about finding another doctor. And it is not about a person's weight (do not get me going!!!!), but how healthy one eats. I am 37+4 weeks and have had no side effects at all. My baby is healthy, as well. Also, in pregnancy, we have a hard enough time dealing with hormonal fluctuations and weight gain. Why does this doctor wish to add more pressure? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | WOW!! What an arse to say something like that!!! My Dr. "hinted" that I was gaining too much weight, but to flat out say "You're too fat" is just not professional for a physician!! |
