I drink semi skimmed milk too, though my nan and mum keep telling me I should be on full fat (I only have full fat on my cereal in the morning).
I think they are a bit anti fat here in France, I never see fat women (apart from old ladie's). The doc said I should gain no more than 1kg per month of pregnancy, so no more than 9kg in total, I have gained 10kg in just under 5 months, oh well. | You don't sound like you're too fat at all!! As long as you're eating healthily I really wouldn't worry - and lots of milk is great as your baby will be stealing all your calcium
I can't believe your doctor would suggest that you eat less ...I'd get a new doctor x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | That is just ridiculous. You're a good healthy Mum. Merde!!! The French think anything other than a size 4 is lardy. There are large women (and believe me you are not one) who have healthy babies. Don't be put off by these misinformed words. Really, really silly and concerning for no reason. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Grrrr - a male doctor I assume! We all gain different amounts of weight during pregnancy, I gained LOADS during the first few weeks, but have now levelled out, but I fully expect to gain more during the 3rd tri. You're obviously eating healthily and that's what matters. Don't let him get you down. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | 10 kg is not at all much!
He is crazy. That kind of weight gain should be normal.
Not at all dangerous. xxx
If you are gaining it pretty fast, just ry and eat more healthy food (I know,it's hard!) but you really shouldn't worry at all! |

| Gosh hun, you sound much healthier than me - 2 pts milk, home grown food, cycling - your baby is lucky to be in such a healthy mum!
10kg isn't much is it? I'm also a size 12 and have gained 20lbs which is about the same isn't it? I was thinking I'd done quite well My MW hasn't even weighed me since my first appointment.
(Love your comment about not growing crisps by the way hun )
Stupid doctor - ignore him. |

Just ignore him. French women are all skinny cos all they do is smoke and drink coffee and never eat!!
Iīve just checked my notes, at 29 weeks I had put on 10kgīs in weight and my Doc (no midwives here in Germany either) didnīt make a song and dance about it. I did make the mistake of asking her at the beginning how much weight was a reasonable amount to put on. She said studies had shown that women who put on between 10-12kg find it easier to lose afterwards. But lets face it, everybody is different, some people lose and gain weight easier than others.
You may find that your weight gain stabilises a bit now as well. I went through a stage when I didnīt gain any weight, then lost some and now seem to be staying put. I wouldnīt worry about weight gain at all, as long as you are eating heathily, then you canīt go wrong. | | | | Status: Offline

| Well I feel a bit calmer now, thanks ladies!
This isn't my first bump, and I put on WAY more weight before and was fine (though it took me two yrs to shift the extra pounds!) so I don't know why I panicked so much.
And yes, it was a male doctor, a weasley skinny little man too! I hate the way the French do the whole pregnancy thing, give me a British midwife and the usual checks any day, over here I have to have about 7 blood tests a month, an internal from the doc every month with swabs galore and all kinds of stupid tests, so annoying. I hear the hospital/maternity wards are brill though, so should be some compensation! | | | | Status: Offline

| I've put on 2 stone so far (am 33 weeks), gone from 9 stone 6 to 11 stone 6, but no-one has ever weighed me, so the doctor and midwife don't know! They asked me how much I weighed at my first appointment and took my word for it, and haven't asked since! It does seem to vary a lot from practice to practice. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I agree with everyone else, you're eating healthily etc so baby is getting all the nutrients it needs, cutting back on things is a bad idea. baby needs calcium-so keep drinking the milk.
Ive been a hell of a lot naughtier then you, i cant stand milk by itself so buy fresh milkshakes (not macdonalds or anything that bad mind lol) as i know i need the calcium.
Ignore the idiot doctor, i especially hate MEN who critisise things like this-as if they know what its like to go through a pregnancy etc and hormones. Thank god not everyones as nasty as he is!

| What an idiot! As I've written before, I've gained 6 stone in my pregnancy. My thyroid went quite underactive, but it is now under control. Nothing, not a word, has been said about my weight gain and in fact, in my notes it is written high BMI+++ due to hypothyroidism. Because of the huge weight gain (I always watched my weight, by the way) I asked to join Slimming World's program for pregnant women for which you need medical approval. My consultant has refused this request saying he does not want me to diet at all during my pregnancy and just to keep eating healthy for the baby. I also do not get weighed because the focus is on the baby, not my weight. And I think that is where it should be.
For the record, I am a lifelong vegetarian and do not drink cow's milk (rice or oat milk for me). With all the weight gain I do not have pre-eclampsia, no protein in my urine, no high blood pressure, good iron and hemoglobin levels, etc. And I am now a UK 24/26.
I think as long as you keep a healthy diet, your weight will only matter after the baby is born. That is what I am dreading, but I know I will lose it as I've done so before. | | | | Status: Offline
