Aw, some kids need that extra year anyway. a lot aren't ready for school at 4, and your child would be exceptionally young (basically a whole year!).`

That saying, I was born in November so I was one of the youngest in my year. Not to blow my own trumpet but I was one of the brightest in my year so I don't think that has much to do with how well your kid will preform. Saying that, another girl was born in Feb so she WAS the youngest in our year and boy oh boy could you tell. She wasn't stupid, just really immature compared to the rest of us.

my daughter was born in june and she is now 9. her teacher suggested she repeat last year and she did. she wasn't too pleased about it but now she is fine and it did her the world of good. she was too young to go into the next class and she is very quiet so repeating was the best thing she could have done. she is going into her next class one of the oldest and she loves it.
i'm not due LO till 17th of Sept so i'm glad that he won't be starting till he is 5.

I was worryin bout this too - when I told everyone the date my section was booked for (4th Sept) they said oh your gonna have to have him for another year and pay for childcare for another year etc..! Everyone put me off so much that I though bout askin for cesearean a week earlier but after speakin to people with kids round this age they say there better off bein with you for another year and probably not ready for another year anyways.

I wouldn't change the date now anyway what is meant to be will be and it means I get him to myself for another year
