I'm Currently Feeling: | hmm... not sure. If Mia kicked 10 times in 30 seconds ( which she can do with apparent ease, and Hard !! ), and then didn't move at all for the rest of the day I'd be worried. I'm sure it's 10 periods of movement.... let me go google.... |

I'm Currently Feeling: | ... and then another article says 10 movements in 2 hours....
I think the rule of thumb here, is to know your baby. You get used to how often they move, and what times of day they are most active. So everyones perception of their babes movement is unique to them. If your babies normal movements become decreased for them, then seek advice. |

I don't think you notice it as much as time goes on not sure I did feel 10 times a day but my MW said "when would you normally feel her more active" my answer was at night when I got in to bed (99% of the time) she said that because of that if I didn't feel that movement she would ask me to call her with my concerns!
Everyone is different though!
Personally if I was worried about movement I would contact my MW anyway she always told me what worried me worried them and never ever feel silly to contact them with any worries no matter how big or small! If they feel your answers need looking into further they will - never butter up stuff because you feel daft etc because that makes them think you think they are ok if you don't ...rambling I know but I just don't think you can ever be over cautious with pregnancy thats all! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | You should feel about 10 movements in a 1-hour period, usually when your baby is most active.
However, there are some people (like myself) who have the placenta on the front of the uterus, so I RARELY get to feel that, even at 33+ weeks. Though one time I did go to L&D because I hadn't felt anything for over 30 hours. Sure enough, I get there, and she is still bopping around inside but I don't feel much!
The general rule of thumb is that if you don't feel anything in 24 hours, then you should call your OB or MW. |

Its still a panic tho, if I wake up in a morning and haven't felt anything in the first hour I start to panic!!! But to be fair I have gone from being a very relaxed person (pre pregnancy) to the biggest worrier EVER!!!!! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | i never count them as like everyone else i am confused! as long as i feel beanie move at different times throughout the day (i.e. morning, afternoon and evening) i am not worried. if i didn't feel a movement all evening or all morning i would be worried.

| Hi LilBump
Sorry not to see you on here for a few days - been feeling bit ill (anaemia )
My baby has always had busy days and quiet days - that's just what's normal for him. It always scares me when he's quiet though. I'll get like 100 movements for a few days and then onle like 10-20 for a few days.
Maybe your baby is having a growth spurt? I've heard they can be quieter during these times.
Counting movements seems to be OK if you are comparing your baby with your baby rather than a set number per hour/day - as there is no normal number of kicks.
Hope this helps hun |
