| Hi again ladies, i was hoping to update last night but it was far too late once i eventually got home and i wanted food and bed!
I've had it confirmed that i do have Bell's Palsy, after my gp looked at me puzzled and looked through loads of books etc and then rang up the hospital. They called me in straight away so they could assess the situation and see if it was too late for any meds etc. I spent a good few hours there, which i cant say i enjoyed...hospitals are obviously very busy and some people obviously need more help then me.
But after blood tests, urine tests, being prodded and poked and saw different doctors/nurses etc i had it confirmed. It took them a while to check what i could take as i am pregnant and on meds for high bp already. Evenutally i have been told it is safe to take a 5 day course of a very low dose steroids, and i'll be given eye drops and a patch. The only thing was the pharmacy had shut for the night, so im going back in for them today after my scan in maternity unit.
Hope2BeAmommy-i know personally a stroke affects the one side of your body as well as your face, which this did not. Also it didnt come on suddenly like a stroke/fit, it started with what i thought was neck ache. I would have gone to A+E straight away otherwise. When i made my gp apppointment they dont usually ask what its for unless for an emergency appointment. My mom and husband asked the same questions ie about it being a stroke, is my body affected etc but its just my neck and face fortunatly.
Although im glad i now know the answer to my problem and i know it will go away, its still not nice to live with right now. Hopefully the eye drops and patch will also help me at night to sleep better and to keep dust out, i was told its a good job i wear glasses as its obviously helped keep a certain amount of dust etc out and away from the eye.
Now i need to get back to looking forward to my scan this afternoon- cant wait to see baby. x x
Thanks again for the replies. x x |
