Okay...just a warning that this may be a little long...but I need to find out what's going on!!
Yesterday evening around 6 I started having contractions pretty frequently. That continued for 2 hours and then my hubby and mom decided we should start timing them because they were starting to hurt (not super bad, but more than just uncomfortable).
We timed them for an hour and they were almost exactly 10 min apart, lasting for a min each. I was feeling really icky and decided I would call the Labor and Delivery nurse to see what she said. She told me to try and take a warm bath and call her back in an hour. I did that...contractions still kept coming. She than said that there was really no point in my coming in unless my contractions were 5 min or less apart...GRRRRR! So I just tried to doze off...
I finally managed to fall asleep around 1:00 AM. However, at 2:00 AM my contractions woke me up...my hubby and I decided to time them again...we timed them for an hour and they were pretty consistently 5 min apart...however they weren't getting stronger or more painful. So, since I was so tired I didn't want to go the hospital just to get sent home....I tossed and turned the rest of the night and now here I am at noon my time still having them....although still not stronger...still around 5-8 min apart.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO....AM I IN THE EARLY STAGES OF LABOR OR WHAT!?!?!? Should I just endure them until something changes??
I see my OB on Monday morning...but I don't want to feel like this until then...should I call him?
I had 24 hours of contractions that were 5 to 8 minutes apart and lasting for at least a minute - apparently it's quite common to have hours where nothing progresses. They told me I had to wait until they were regularly spaced before I went in, I'd been in labour for 36 hours by the time I did go to hospital and by then I was only 3cm dilated so I'm glad I'd stayed at home, but if you do think you need pain relief or they're evenly spaced I'd give them a call again...hope it doesn't take too long for you - good luck!! x
