I'm Currently Feeling:  |  Useless Woman! (38+1 check-up)
I went for my 38+1 week check-up today..
First I was told my usual OB/GYN/Midwife wasn't working today, which is fine.
I get this old battleaxe in her place..
Didn't really ask how I was doing and when she did ask me questions is was more about where in England I came from.. (I am now living in America).
I told her about my last days of lower back pain/spasms, the period-like cramps, the swelling I have been getting in my hands and feet. She didn't seem all that interested.
Finally my blood pressure was taken and it was fine and no protein in my urine this week-again, good news.
Then I asked her if I should undress my lower half.. "Why?"
I was kinda stunned.. "Well, aren't you going to check my cervix and whatnot?"
"No..I don't think I need to."
I just sit there looking at her.."I have just told you about my lower back pains, and everything..and er, I am 38 WEEKS!"
Then she went on to tell me there was no point in checking my cerivx, it won't help matters. I could be dilated and I could be like that for days, who knows?!.. I shouldn't want 'people' shoving my hand up 'there' and causing an infection.
I reminded her 'PEOPLE' don't shove their hand up my vagina and latex gloves are available for her to use..and ...AND I want to know if I am dialted or not. At least then I can be prepared.
"I don't think I need to.. so you can wait until next week.. IF you make it until then. I am sure your OB/GYN will assist you."
Grrr..I could knock her fat arse out.
Anyway, apart from that everything else went well.
The baby seems fine, which is all that matters. |
