I'm Currently Feeling: | Over here they do these tests as a matter of course. Itīs a part of my next MW appointment in a week.
They do all the tests as a part of your "treatment" and general appointments, that in the UK you can choose whether to have or not, ie Downs scan, triple blood test, glucose blood test, Strep B swabs and blood tests. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It is done close to the end, as the results are only good for about 5 weeks. I had mine done already and it came back neg, even though I am having a c-section and strep B wouldn't even be a concern in that case. All they do is swab the outer vaginal area and down to your bum, they never insert the swab... well not in my case, I guess some docs are different though. Its important to have done because if you are a carrier then it can be passed to your newborn. If you've got it they just give you an antibiotic while in labour. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I had it with DS and I was in the Uk then, I had to pay and send off for the test, you have do do the swab yourself (instructions included) and then send it back to the lab. Unfortunately they donīt carry it out in the UK as a matter of course, I donīt even think they do it if you ask for it!!! I think itīs very important because, although unlikely, if youīre a carrier then it can kill your baby if you pass it on during birth. Hope this helps hun XXX |

| Yes, I agree there are plenty of other things I'd prefer to do, but it sure beats having a sick baby! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's part of your normal workup here in the US- they don't even ask you if you want it. Got my results back yesterday and they were Negative!!! YAY!!! |
