I'm Currently Feeling: 


swollen and sore fingers


My fingers have been swoolen for a couple of weeks but in the last few days my fingers are sore all the time. Is this normal?

This is what I am getting, along with swollen feet.

You should have it checked out though.
I am being tested for Preeclampsia on my check-up on Wednesday.
It could be just water retention.
If so, relax..elevate those limbs, drink plenty of water..and remember less salt intake the better.

Yes, i have swoolen feet too and i drink a lot of water and milk. The only problem is i like to eat sour fruits with salt, new craving. it's difficult to say no to it. I'm going to see the doctor on Sunday, so i might check it out, just to be on the safe side( it might just be the gready side

yip - my fingers are achey all the time, but worst in the morning. It's just fluid build up. Entirely normal. I cant wear any rings now.

i got the same i spoke to midwife its carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome affects as many as one in three pregnant women. The symptoms include numbness and/or pins and needles in your fingers and hands, generally first thing in the morning. Although carpal tunnel syndrome is generally quite mild, in some cases it can be so painful that sleep is disturbed and hand movements are severely restricted.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by fluid collecting around your wrist joints and pressing on the nerves that go through the wrist to the hand.

It generally improves within a week or two of your baby’s birth.
What can I do about it?

Different women find different remedies helpful. Try the following:

* Hand exercises:
Hold your fingers stretched out as far as possible for a few seconds, then relax them.
Make a fist, then straighten out your fingers.
Move your hands up and down and from side to side and round and round. Try 'flicking' them quickly. Keep your hands raised as much as possible – improvise an elevation sling with a scarf.
* * Try dangling your hand over the side of the mattress when you are in bed or, alternatively, try sleeping with your hands slightly raised on pillows.
* Try bathing your hands in a bowl of cold water, or placing them first in cold, and then in warm water – before returning once again to cold water
* Wear a wrist support, supplied by your midwife.
* Acupuncture or acupressure helps some women. Consult a qualified practitioner.
* Make sure you are eating a full and balanced diet, containing the full range of vitamins, including the B groups for healthy nerves.
* If the condition is very severe, your doctor may prescribe a diuretic drug to help you lose some excess fluid. Sometimes ultrasound treatment may relieve the symptoms.

I was going to post about the same thing. When I wake up I feel like my hands are so weak and sore. I too have had to take all my rings off. I think the warm weather has a lot to do with it as well. My blood pressure is usually on the low side so I think it's quite normal.

Only a week now until I finish work (I can't wait), I just hope baby isn't late!

Stick your hands and feet in cold water - it's lovely!

This is what I have. It is better than before but I still have symptoms. My fingers are always numb. Its hard to hold on to things and wash my hair. My fingers feel dead- especially the tips. They are so swolen when I wake up I can't close my fist. They stay swolen all day too. I will be so glad when this goes away!
