BH or contractions?

i read that one of the differences between BH and early contractions is that BH are not stimulated by walking or movement, but contractions are. Is this true as far as anyone knows??

My BH have been really bad the past few weeks, hurting and sometimes almost regular, but these last two days I have been sat on my butt alot, and whenever i get up or walk, or move about I get such strong but not overly painful BH/contractions which seem entirely stimulated by movement....

anyone got any ideas?? Thanks

I was told that walking about for 20 minutes or so and drinking plenty of water will basically cease Braxton Hicks. However, sometimes I am still suffering with them after taking such actions.

I often thought I was in labour, turns out I'm not.

You could keep up with the advice? If it persists and it starts to regulate starts timing the 'contractions.

You could be in early labour, seeing as you're so close to your estimated due date.

Good luck and keep us informed.

i dont feel like i am anywhere near labour. baby wont stop jiggling! I drink shed loads constantly so it isnt dehydration, but they definately arent regular... I get one every 15 minutes, sometimes strong and really hard, like i am sqeezing him out and i have to get on my knees to be comfy, sometimes lighter and much more crampy, and they last anything from 1-10mins. I would expect contractions to hurt more, but maybe not if it is really early on?

I am paranoia woman!

From what I understand (and that's asking a lot from my hormone-riddled mush of a brain!!) BH can be eased by doing the opposite of what you were doing when they come on...

ie, if you're walking around and you get BH, then sitting and resting will calm them down.... if you're sitting and resting and you get BH, then getting up and moving around will calm them down.

Real contractions will persist regardless of what you do.

Hope that helps...

At my antenatal class, the midwife said that the whole "baby slows down before labour" is a complete myth... it's only true in as much as the lack of space makes it harder for babe to kick out and jiggle like a jiggly thing, but they will move very regularly still... in fact, some women still feel movements even when they're in labour!?!?

Yikes! really?? and there was me relying on that fact!!! tomorrow is the day most inconveniant for me to go into labour over the next month and I was telling myself "it cant be tomorrow, he is moving too much!"

Oh damn it, if i go tomorrow, there will be hundreds, literally hundreds of people around me who know me and will make such a fuss!! I will never live it down!!

i still haven't had ANY braxton hicks - how am i going to know when i am in labour? i am really concerned about this cos i won't have anything to compare real contractions to as i haven't experienced braxton hicks so don't know what they are like either....does that make sense?

oh dear, i don't feel ready at all!

Christine

Im feeling exactly the same at the moment my BH are somtimes really painfull i thought they were contractions only to be told otherwise when the MF checked my cervix! they seem to come on alot more if i get up and move around iv found sitting with my feet up all day today a great help, but then again they do say stay active to bring on labor! i feel altho its no win at the moment so iv decided to do whatever i feel comfy doing and wait for things to happen! i think you should do the same put ur feet up and have a nice cuppa!
