A question about maternity pads and such

Don't know if this has been asked. I think it has so sorry for the repost.

I got a package from my hospital last night with a whole lot of goodies that I'm going to need during my stay there.

They packed in 2 packets of maternity pads. All in all it's 24 pads. Is this what I'm going to need for 2-3 days?!?
They're these huge "Old style" bulky things. I wont have any space to pack anything else in there LOL.

How many am I looking at buying here? I was going to buy maybe one packet of these and then night-time pads for when I get back home. Will these be ok?

Another question. What is zinc and castor oil cream used for??? That was in the bag too. Thought I'd ask here before getting to the hospital and having no clue what to do with it.

I used maternity pads for quite a while. When your bruised or have stitches, somehow they're much more comfortable.

I'm glad you brought this up. I went looking to buy some maternity pads and all I could find was regular pads for periods and adult pads (or depends diapers). I saw nothing that stated maternity pads. I stood in the aisle forever looking for these. I have been told that the hospital will supply me with maternity pads during my stay along with these fish net underwear (supposed to be more comfy after birth with your maternity pads). I haven't received any kind of packet from the hospital (don't know if they do this in the states). I bought some pads from the adult section "bladder leaks" so I am hoping they will be useful, otherwise, I'm going to have to wing it.

Yeh I've been hunting around for them too. The package I bought form the hospital was a godsend.

I'm going shopping after work so I'm going to wander around and see if I can find any. Maybe the pharmacy will sell them? If all else fails there's a pharmacy in the hospital that should sell them (I hope)
