I hope I don't have a preemie baby here in BC

I was just speaking with my MIL and there is a girl that she works with that went into premature labour.

Well, seems Vancouver has no room for preemie babies here so they had to bring the mom to Washington, USA to deliver the baby. Now, the mother is out of the hospital but the baby is still in the hospital. Every few days the parents go down to see their baby and have to stay in a hotel.

The nice thing is, the government of Canada has to pay the traveling costs, hotel costs and hospital costs.

But imagine your baby being so far away from you? It's bad enough that your baby is in the hospital for awhile if he/she is preemie and you can't bring him/her home right after delivery. But to actually travel across the border to see the baby?

Strange! Gotta love Vancouver!

Well I spose it good that the travel cost are covered, but youŽd think a major city like Vancouver would have room for premature babies!

Make sure you have a word with your LO Leeanne and tell him to stay put for a while longer yet!!

Yes, you would think so about Vancouver.

They have a children's hospital here and that's where a baby would go to if they are preemie. They don't keep them in a normal hospital. So, yes, I can see if that is full that they would definitely have to do something.

I am sure my little guy is fine but you never do know what can happen tbh. Suppose it's good to know this information so that one is prepared in case it did happen.
