I'm Currently Feeling: | Reality Check I went to see my friends newborn baby last night. She had him on Monday morning but has stayed in hosp a while as she had a difficult time.
He is so small! He was 7lb 5 born and is absolutely amazing. But it made me think how totally and utterly unprepared I am for my little beanie. I was crying my eyes out as soon as we left and OH didnt know what to do with me!
It was such a major reality check, that something so small and helpless is going to depend on me.
I had a cuddle with him and didnt know how to hold him or anything. Ive not had an awful lot of experience with babies (except my little sister) and was just hoping it would come naturally but what if it doesnt?
Its safe to say I am now absolutely shitting myself about becoming a mother. |

| I have no experience either and it is really scary.
However, I feel that with the support of those around you and with a bit of time things will start to come naturally. Babies are people and the most important thing we can give them is our love. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Don't worry, you'll be fine! I had almost no experience when Sam was born but you'll find you do pick things up so quickly...and you'll have lots of help while you're in hospital to show you things like feeding, bathing and nappy changing, and when they're first born there's not much more you need to know x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | We all have to start somewhere hun, dont worry.
I feel a bit worried too where it is all new to me but im going to stay in hospital for at least 2 nights so i can get some advice, help and feel comfortable knowing that im in the best place for LO for all the help and support ill need.
Dont go rushing out of the hospital.
Im sure most of it will come naturally when your LO is in your arms |

| Wow! Just yesterday I was shitting myself over the same thing!
I just started worrying about silly little things like "Will I be able to pick her up without dropping her" and "Will I be able to change her nappy and dress her without hurting her" I nearly had a nervous breakdown!
I see so many new mothers holding their babies and they seem so completely at ease. Whenever I've held a baby I've felt so clumsy. I'm just hoping my maternal instincts kick in! You are not alone | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Know what you mean hun. I went for a tour of my maternity unit last night and the midwife showed us a baby she'd just delivered and when she picked her up she started screaming her head off and I all of a sudden thought, Oh my god! I haven't had much experience with babies either apart from my little sister. I get really freaked out by other peoples babies and I won't hold them because I'm terrified of them crying while their mum is watching me. I'm just not a very maternal person at all. Which is why I'm planning on staying in hospital for a couple of nights. I'm sure it'll come to us don't worry x |

| its totally normal hunny, you will find that your instincts just kick in and its so different with you own baby, even now after having my own baby I feel 'clumsy' holding other peoples babies, but its so different when you have your own.
At first you will be like omg how on earth do I change this nappy, how do I put this vest on without bending her arms the wrong way ect, I felt so lost at first I wont lie, but after a day, and after the firs ttime of doing everything it just clicks.
You will be absolubtly fine hun, dont worry xxxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | i am totally the same, but i am just hoping instinct kicks in. I am doubly scared tho because my Lo will have an open wound on his back and he is likely to need catherisation everytime he needs to loo, possibly even help doing a #2. I have ten days in hospital to practice, but i know just how you feel! |
