Heartburn has gotten Really bad !!!!

I have heartburn with all pregnancies... and end up drinking Gaviscon in the quantities I would normally drink my wine ( mmmmmm wine )...

However, for the last 2 nights, it has been really really bad. I'm waking up about 5 times almost throwing up and having to swig out of the bottle !!! It's really annoying...

So today, I rang my MW and begged her to allow me to take Ranitidine... ANd she let me SHe said not to make a habit of it though, and only take it if I really really need too. I am so much better now.... I ust wish I had thought to wait to take it before I go to bed..... it lasts for 12 hours, so I may have gotten a full nights sleep

Has anybody else been told they can take Zantac ( ranitidine ) ???

Poor you! I haven't had much heartburn but when I have it's made me nearly throw up. Apparently it means your baby will be born with lots of hair although I'm not sure how true that actually is lol

Gaviscon is normally great.. it just doesn't seem to be working this time

Give you MW a call.. she really didn't seem that concerned about me taking Zantac.. ust said not to use it too often. I think once your in 3rd tri, they're a bit more lenient with medications, as babe has done all it's developing, and just needs to grow Hope you fid relief too !!

poor you. i am glad you are getting the ranitadine.

since sem 2 i have been having really bad indigestion. the gavi works for awhile until i eat or drink something else - i have a clinic appt tomorrow so i may ask for the ranitadine.

last night i woke up at 2am with such a burning feeling i thought i was having a heart attack i wobbled through to the sitting room and swigged down a HUGE gulpful of gavi STRAIGHT from the bottle! It felt so good as that burning feeling vanished....

I've always had problems with acid reflux so they are worse now I'm pregnant. I have had a couple of times when I've not even been able to drink water for hours as it just won't go down. But my doctor would not prescribe anything stronger than gaviscon

I'm just eating everything reallly sloooowly and then gulping the gaviscon.

I know how you feel hun - hope the new medicine helps for you

I mainly use Tums, I eat them like candy. I have been through so many bottles of Tums it's ridiculous. My doctor did let me take Zantac, but I didn't think it worked all that well (or fast enough). I prefer Tums. I hate heart burn, I get it so bad that it almost makes me sick. Hang in there hun and keep taking what makes you feel better (as long as it's okay for the baby).

I haven't used anything but Rolaids, although the last few days of heartburn in the middle have almost made me want to go out and buy something else!
