I'm not sure either tbh. It's something that you could try and discuss with your MW at your next appointment. I know that they don't like inducing women before 37 weeks due to lung development but if they were to do a growth scan they could probably tell if everything was OK.

I've been watching Portland Babies on Discovery H&H and they quite often have women in who want to be induced early due to them living so far away from the hospital and so that it fits in with their busy schedules. But that's in a private facility, I'm not sure if you can even ask going through the NHS.

Sorry can't help more

I think if you push for it, the midwife will do it. You just really have to push as they are reluctant to do it.

i agree - NHS might be a bit awkward but you can always ask!
My date is being brought forwarda week earlier than i wanted as my doc is "away" when i wanted him...sunning himself in barbados no doubt!
I'm lucky though - no NHS here.

Can you not convince your mum to not go?

You can only ask - good luck!

hmm not sure hun, I think they would only do it if there were medical reasons behind it. anyway theres no harm in asking, the worse they can say is no....goodluck xxxx

I would say to that they will only do it for medical reasons not to simplify one's life. For one, they probably don't want to do it for fear of "what-if's".

I wish we could just have our babies at a convenient time. When I get out of the hospital after a C-section, I have three days at home then it's back to school for my kids. Would be so much easier if the C-section was done a week prior. LOL

I agree, I'm afraid.

They'll only do what is a) safest and b) best use of their resources. I think you'd need to convince them that you had a really good reason for wanting to be induced early - like your own physical discomfort. If you really want your mum there maybe you should work on convincing her to postpone her trip, if this is possible for her? if not I do hope baby waits for her return.

Hope you work it out so that you can have the birth you want hun

I agree im sure its only for medical reasons they will do it otherwise everyone would be asking to be induced early....and with the NHS budget as it is at the moment i cant see them letting this happen...But i could be mistaken, like the others say no harm in asking XXX
