Ok warning to anyone due a sweep.....DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!
Although maybe it was just my midwife

Right anyway my midwife came out today just before midday and said i could either go for the sweep today or have one on tues and i thought i would go for it today while Andy could hold my hand (or my friggin squashing it!)

So hopped(rolled) onto the bed blah blah and she started....My cervix was facing upwards towards my tummy if that makes sense so she had to hook her finger round and get it downwards before even beginning,then got inside my cervix which was SHUT Not even one friggin cm!!
She had a fiddle about and did the membrane thing but she said LO's head is fully engaged but is still higher lying so had to push hard on the top of my bump to do it so she could feel the head.

OUCHY FUCK!! My god it hurt like hell although my midwife does have stumpy fingers and the cervix was facing my tummy area and head was upish so maybe thats why.Also she kept having to tell me to stop edging away from her on the bed lol so very tense too lol.
I did ask if i cant handle that then how the hell am i gonna give birth!

Anyway she said expect a little bleeding but nothing so far.
This afternoon i have just had some pressure pains and some soreness up me whatsit as i was a born again virgin with the no sex going on. Oh and my bump feels bruised.

So we have to wait and see now but she said my cervix wasn't favourable.
She has booked me in for an induction on thursday.I gotta go there for between 8-9am to be assessed.If all good i get induced then and if not i have to go back friday.
So at least i know it should be by this weekend at the latest but i am soooooooo hoping something happenes in the next 2 days.

Sorry if this has put anyone off a sweep,im sure it is just all the factors were wrong for me.

ouch sorry that it was a painful experience hunny, i can't believe your cervix is still shut,,,,,,rubbish. Goodluck with your induction on thursday, your LO will be with you in no time, but hopefully will come before then xxx

bloody hell i dont want this sweep done to me, not one person has said its an ok experience. im thinking of refusing it. sorry you had to go through this.

yikes!!! Sounds like an ordeal! Really hope it does the trick tho! If not the induction isnt too far away.

Yikes! Sounds very unpleasant Hope it works for you. Maybe you should try ? I know what you mean about being a born again virgin though My OH has said he doesn't think he can do it at this point because he is afraid of hurting me.

Strangely, I still think I will go for it tomorrow. Hopefully, my cervix will be favorable. Maybe I will wait if it isn't since you had such a bad time!

My MW calls it "stripping" which sounds even more barbaric and painful than a "sweep."

She moved your cervix without pain relief? Wow, they gave me gas and air when they pulled mine forward, and it even hurt with that!

It was a home visit and we were adamant to have it done to get things going I thought it would be ok but bloody hell i wish i hadn't had it done lol although it could help.

She had to hook it round with her stumpy finger/s. Felt like she was pulling my insides out!

She never mentioned anything about gas an air being appropriate! Told you my midwife was a sadist!
Or maybe if they dont tell you then they think you'll just deal with it?
I want your midwives lol
