bladder/kidney infection symptoms?

Hi all

I'm very uncomfortable at the minute - pain in lower abdomen and feel like I urgently need to pee all the time - but I don't (or can't). I wakened about 7 times last night to hurry to the bathroom for no reason. I thought it sounded like a bladder infection, so have been drinking lots today despite it being the last thing I want to do, but still nothing! I must have about 4 litres in me by now and it ain't coming back out (sorry tmi). Called at Drs surgery after lunch for nurse to check for infection and seems there isn't one, but at this stage its getting quite sore and I'm getting worried. I have a GP appointment for tomorrow but this is really getting to me. I don't know what to do to ease it.

Has anyone else experienced similar? Could it be the way baby is lying or something? No fever but have also had a sore back all week but put that down to the usual aches and pains of pregnancy. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Shaz

I used to get terrible infections and they were how you described. However if your MW can't find one it must be something else. Sorry I can't be any more help

try drinking cranberry juice. that helps most urinary problems. I have found in the past that i am uncomfortable and sore long before the test comes back positive - so maybe you will get an answer at the docs tomorrow.

Apart from that - every day my bladder seems to shrink and going to the bathroom 6-7 times a night has been the norm for me for ages. Plus i get the stinging and constant urge to pee all the time - but it is just his head squishing my bladder.

Thanks girls for replies.

Ended up at hospital late last night as the pain worsened and then became unbearable. Rally sharp pain on one side, so severe I was worried about pre-term labour as I couldn't even stand at one stage and therefore couldn't make it to the car despite dh's help. Although the fact that it was one-sided and constant was a bit reassuring in itself, it was way too severe to ignore.

Anyhow, they found a lot of blood in the urine and diagnosed renal colic caused by a kidney stone, which hopefully has passed as I felt almost human again by 2am. Back home now with antibiotics and painkillers, and hoping things will be ok from here on.

Baby is fine, which is the main thing - had a thorough check-up, scan and exam to confirm cervix still closed, which it is, thank God.
