I'm Currently Feeling: | I guess the problem is that there's no exact science, but there are some calculations that are far less accurate than others. I was just surprised to learn that the 40-week model was arbitrarily decided back in the 1700s, and then popularized in the 1800s by a German OB. When compared to a more recent study conducted in the 1990s, it turns out that most women expecting their first babies were on average giving birth 8 days past their supposed "due date." So...this other calculator, I think, tries to look at the average length most women give birth--as opposed to this other model which, obviously, many of us don't fall into...which in turn, drives us crazy when we feel like we are somehow abnormal, and our babies are holding out on us! In reality, the babies could actually be arriving on time. I say we follow our babies' wisdom.
Anyway, food for thought! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you for the info!! It gave me the same date as my MW, but I have to say the site just encouraged me in general. I feel that due dates are ESTIMATES and have always felt that if baby is "late" it's because they need more time cooking and we really shouldn't rush them. I have a friend who was 6 weeks post due date with BOTH of her children (and there was no question about the accuracy of her LMP or due date). They both turned out perfectly healthy, which is when I started wondering, what if she had induced 6 weeks earlier??? I really hope I don't go that far past my due date, but if I do I just hope God gives me the patience to wait it out, because it'll be tough. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thankyou for the info, found it really interesting especially when it talks about different length cycles can make it longer etc My cycle used to be 34 days so by going by that im looking at going over a week or 2. Im uncomfortable but know there is nothing i can do and dont really want an induction unless i need it medically, PE etc
Well i could be going from 9th june-23rd june
Midwife says its been a new moon/full moon whichever it is this week and that the maternity dept is chocka although friday would be real handy as my sis is flying back from switzerland then Hooray!! |
