I know i'm not pregnant, but just wanted to say that i took it when i was pregnant with my son and i regret it now. It made him go into distress causing him to poo inside of me, not to mention it gave me awful runs and sickness yet never brought any twinges, or labour on. They don't sell it in chemists now, there was only 1 chemist in the whole of the town where i lived that sold it, so i was quite lucky. (or not in my case) I feel phsycally sick when i even think about castor oil, it is totally disgusting. Nowadays the midwifes are totally against pregnant women taking castor oil and it makes the baby greasy and oily when they arrive. If you can't find any in the shops you could have a look on ebay?

ugh, don't do it. remember, since it is a laxative, it will go into baby's blood and cause it to have a BM which can of course be very scary.

i think you'll find that theres no evidence whatsoever that indicates it causes baby to have BM it does not cross the placenta as its of no nutritional value your body gets rid of it. overdue babies or stressfull labour are whats beleived to cause baby to have a BM not castor oil MW'S here recommend it if your overdue or having a slow or stop start labour but your body has to be ready and you must keep your fluids up it is hard to find though. i used it for my last 2 pregnancies but i was 40 weeks and had been having contractions on and off for days it worked both times about 6 hours later. Remember it wont work un less you are already dilated a bit and ONLY take the recommended dosage.
