I had serious period pains and backache all of saturday with contractions coming every 20-25min, by about 10pm they were coming every 5min and were very strong, around 2am i rang labour ward who told me to take two paracetamol, run a bath and go back to bed. So i took paracetamol and went to bed, ran a bath in the morning about 8am, after my bath the contactions stopped but the backache continued all of sunday. sunday night still no contractions and yesterday i just had niggly pains all day on and off.

woke up this morning still with backache and period type pains and went to the hospital for my sweep. my midwife who i was supposed to see wasnt there so i had to wait over an hour to see another midwife

i explained my situation to her and explained why i was having an early sweep and that i needed baby to arrive before next week because we wont have child care after that. she was NOT sympathetic at all and said that she wasnt happy doing the sweep before my due date. anyway she did a half-hearted sweep, told me that she wasnt going to try very hard because my body wasnt ready anyway..

she then told me to book an appointment for another sweep next week, even though i had explained over and over about not having childcare. i told her that my midwife had promised me an induction this friday at which point she laughed and said 'dont be silly, you're not even overdue yet.'

Never! Thats awful!

I do wonder why some people go into nursing when they're clearnly not made for it. If she'd explained herself a bit nicer I could understand but to be so rude just isn't right!

I hope the sweep does something anyway hun *hugs*

When does your normal midwife come back? I'd call her the moment she does.

With my daughter, we had to talk my gynecologist into inducing me and I was already almost a week overdue by that time. And my legs and everything were so full of water retention. I truly believe that I had toxemia at that time. I looked like shit and felt like shit. She wasn't going to induce but after we kept prodding we finally got her to give us a date. Some just don't understand!

shocking that is all I have to say. Anything but sympathetic! Hope you get it sorted out with your normal midwife.

im not really that bothered about going overdue, its the fact that im now worrying about who can look after Rhys if i go into labour next week.
