I am so upset

I had an appointment with the midwife today at 11:30. I went there and just waited and waited. I finally asked someone and was told the midwife was due. I waited again. After 30 minutes I said it does not seem she is coming. The person brought the book out and showed me all the appointments were cancelled today. I saw my name and phone number listed, but I have not been rescheduled for another appointment. Today I threw up after eating. I have been having trouble eating and wanted to speak to the midwife about it.

It is bad enough at my former GP's office that the midwife there booked an appointment with me. I went to see if I could reschedule it and was told that I was never given an appointment and I never went back. I switched GP's and was told by the hospital midwife I should see a midwife attached to my GP (I am under the care of a consultant) because they will arrange for a health visitor to see me after the baby is born.

I have so little support as it is and need as much as I can get. I just feel so let down and have been . My mother could not care if I lived or died and my father is very distant. I have no siblings and I am not even from the UK! My friends live far away from me and only a few have children. My fiance is supportive, but even he has very little family left - just his mom and step-dad. His mom is lovely, but she is over an hour away.

I walked out of there very upset and said they will never see me again. I called and left an message. I am thinking I do not need a midwife or health visitor and as usual, will just get on with it since I am so used to not having support.

My next appointment is on 3 June. In the meantime, I just feel so upset and keep crying on and off. My fiance called me before and in the meantime, I am just here with my pets and computer.

Oh you poor thing. This is almost identicle to my experience. I can't decide which is more incompetent my GP or my Hospital, I was yo-yoing between the two for so long that I reached nearly 6 months before I saw a midwife. Now I've changed hospitals altogether and touch wood they are fantastic and supportive.

My advise is if they ( your GP and hospital) are letting you down..then move...don't stay quiet, this is a crucial time for you healthwise and you need the best care and support you can get, so demand it Hun and don't let them shove you off.
