I'm Currently Feeling: | What's the difference between... normal pregnancy pains and SPD? I stupidly googled SPD and it seems to fit the pain i've been having all week. I think there should be a ban on pregnant women using google. |

Although when i googled it, it sounds quite similar to SPD. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | "A woman with pelvic arthropathy will feel pain mostly around her pubic area spreading out to the groin and the front and back of the thighs. Some kinds of movement, such as lying on her back and trying to turn onto her side, worsens the pain. When she walks, her steps will get shorter until she is almost waddling. Walking up and down stairs is especially difficult."
What causes pelvic arthropathy?
The pelvis is made up of several bones that are jointed in a way that usually does not allow any movement. Under the influence of hormones produced in pregnancy, the cartilage of the joints becomes softer and allows the bones to move. It is this movement and displacement of the bones that causes the pain. In addition, the weight of the growing uterus and baby causes a shift in the pregnant woman's centre of gravity. This often causes lower backache. What happens after the birth?
If pelvic arthropathy is diagnosed and treated correctly the chances of a successful delivery and an easier time afterwards are increased. The discomfort does not disappear immediately after delivery but a gradual improvement over the first few weeks can be expected. It is impossible to predict whether a woman will be troubled to the same degree in any future pregnancies or not.
Basically the difference between SPD and Pelvic Arthropathy is that in SPD it's only the nerves effected, with Pelvic Arthropathy it's the actual joints and bones, sounds very painful. |

| It does sound a lot like SPD. infact thats exactly how the doctor described it to me.
I hope you get a physio appointment soon. I went for my first physio session at about 33 weeks and I couldn't get another one after that until the 7th June (5 days after my due date) so I hope they're a bit better with you.

I'm Currently Feeling: | haha i gogoled and I'm convinced i have a mild form too! Pain in groin and inner thighs and occasionally an achey coccyx. Can't stand for long periods without having to bob down or bend over. Sitting with my feet down hurts after a while - I need to put them up.
I gte up from my desk adn waddle and hobble like a little old lady. Starnegly the pain lessens afetr walking it off for a minute or two.
I mentioned pain in my hip to my doc last time and he casually said "yes, it can happen, nothing to worry about". so i'll not worry. I've only another 6 weeks till baby is here so I can manage. |
