Unhappy

HOME BIRTH

hello

im really scared about giving birth, that scared that when i read about it my heart gets faster and i go pale. i didnt think id be this bad.

i dont like hospitals either, so i thought if i had a home birth (as long as theres not any obvious complications) that id be more relaxed in my home enviroment.

but, im not very good with pain, and i know i want gas and air and a pethidine. definately NOT an epidural!

but can u still have a pethidine if u have a home birth??
also.... (sorry) is it easy 2 get a birth pool to have at home and how do u go about getting 1???

im sorry i babble

do they recomend a home birth for first timers? Gosh you'd be brave to take that on, in my opinion! I'd much rather be at the hospital with all the experts and equipment on hand.

If you're really so worried what about hypnotherapy? Have you spoken to your doc?

Im a first timer and planning on a homebirth. There are loads of places you can hire pools from for about 4 weeks and the cost is between 150 and 400 depending on the size and service (some of them come and empty it for you afterwards). Also think about whether you want one that is heated or whether you will be able to have one topped up with warm water (heated is a littlemore expensive). YOu can also buy them for about £150 although again these arent heated.

Im pretty sure you can have pethedine at home but i have a feeling this varies area to area so speak to your midwife. Im hoping ill be ok with the pool and relaxation texchniques! (we will see)

There are loads of people on here opting for a home birth so im sure you will get lots more replies

I'd love to have a homebirth but I just don't have the bottle. It must be a wonderful experience. I hate hospitals too.

I don't think in Leeds you can have pethedine at home, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure where I heard that.

Good luck
