I'm not really sure. I really want to avoid all drugs if I can, (cept for the antibiotics I HAVE to have..gah) but I've also heard the same thing Clariebear heard, that it can help to stop bleeding. I'm all tossed up

I'm gonna go with the flow. I'm going to try having it naturally (trying BF'ing etc.) prior to the shot, but I'm not necessarily opposed to getting it if things drag out too long. I tend to be a bleeder and I don't want to have a complication after giving birth that might cause me to have to be in the hospital longer.

I am going to let it happen naturally - it is something for me to focus on after they whisk my LO away I don't want any extra drugs in me for when/if they allow me to breastfeed. I doubt it will be much of a problem after heaving a baby out!

Any experiences of what it is like from the mums??

I had the injection and barely felt anything when the placenta was delivered. I think I'll go for it again when the time comes for sure. The injection didn't have any effect on my lil one.

I didn't have an injection, the placenta was delivered with the next contraction and it went pretty quick.

I always assumed (wrongly I see now) that the placenta came away within a few minutes of delivery for everybody!

Mine did come out within a few minutes after having my little one and was not a problem at all, didn't really feel it. For me, I don't see the need to have a synthetic hormone injected when my body will already making plenty of the real stuff on its own.
