Too much fluid!

I had my Anti D jab yesterday and check up with the midwife, i asked her if she could feel what position the baby was in (i read Mrs N's post about hers being head down already and thought as we are due at the same time mine might be too) but the midwife said there was too much fluid and she couldnt hardly feel the baby at all!

At the time i didn't think much of it, but now i'm worrying.

What does it mean?
Is it bad to have too much fluid?

Sorry if this is silly nonsense to worry about.

Thanks

Well the worrying thing was i went to the doctors for my 26 week appointment and it was the first time i had seen this particular midwife...anyway she got her tape measure out to measure the height of my bump and then said "yep perfect measurements for 36 weeks"

"err excuse me WHAT"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yeah i am measuring BIG and i do feel full of fluid - V swollen ankles and feet too.

I wouldnt pay too much attention to what you find out on the internet sites, the only thing i have found out from another midwife is that they may bring on the labour at around 37 weeks to stop the risk of going into labour naturally because of some complications with the head not engaging properly due to the amount of fluid.

Anyway I have another midwife appointment next week so hopefully she will feel my tummy and be able to feel the baby this time!

But as you said, if you're not measuring that big then you probably have nothing to worry about, most cases of excess fluid sort themselves out anyway.

at 25ish weeks my doc did say i had a lot of fluid. At 30 he said it was fine. So it looks like things can sort themselves out and it's not necessarily something to panic about - maybe they could scan you to be sure?

Yep stop googling, it gave me the willys reading some of the stuff...ask your midwife if she feels you need a scan next time you have an appointment.

Keep me posted!
