Dont be afraid to ask questions when you get the tour of the hospital.. the talk i went to was a real eye opener. The woman was really helpful. I even learned you're allowed aromatherapy oils in the pool given they're not harmful to the baby. I'm not planning on using oils though but its just another thing i didn't know. I can imagine it varies from hospital to hospital though.

Hope your visit is helpful for you

Not really. If they mention it at the time I'll probably try it out but if they don't I'm sticking with my plan to gas & air as long as I can, and then onto the epi!

(So much for being Mrs. I don't want an epidural at the beginning of my pregnancy)

I'd love to have the guts to have a water birth but I think I'm going to need an epidural as I am absolutley terrible with pain!

The epi will be my last resort, i'm hoping for pool and gas and air but since i've no idea what birth is like, it could be that i am being completely naive and will need an epi. Who knows? just go with the flow i say. I dont really have an expectations for it other than it will bloody hurt! Lol

I'm not bothered about needles though which is why an epidural wouldn't freak me out, it's personal preference really. I think if you can have a water birth then you should go for it, I'm sure it's an amazing experience, especially knowing you'll be doing it with no or very little pain relief
