Would you...?

Ok so my OH is home from sea next Sunday!! Yay!!!

He wants to go and see his parents who live a three hour's drive away. I really want to spend every second with him as he has been away for three months, but it isnt fair to not let him see his parents.

Would you drive for three hours to spend a few days away from home after 35 weeks, especially as my home hospital is the only one my LO can be born in due to the spinal bifida surgery he will have on the day he is born?

He doesnt drive, so I will have to do it, meaning if something happens, i will be stuck up there hours away from family and hospital. I just feel like i should be at home but dont want to spend another night alone after he comes back.

What would you do??

That's a tough one Emma, I would probably stay at home if I were you only because if anything happens far away you need to be close to the hospital that is gonna take care of Tommy properly.

Whatever you choose, take care and enjoy the time with your hubby!

P.S. Can't your in-laws pop by for a visit while their son is home?

Personally, I'd ask his parents to come to see him - maybe do it as a surprise for him?? Could they not drive up, surprise him, then you all go out for a nice meal in the evening and they could stay in a local B&B for the night?? Then they could see you both the next day as well before they go back....

I think it's too high risk for you and LO driving all that way, and remembering what I was like at 35 weeks, I would have refused point-blank to sit in a car for that long, never mind about the driving!

i was just about to say the same thing as aqua...rather than you2 make the journey up to them is there any way they could come down to visit you?

I dont think i would risk the drive up to them and the stay at 35 weeks with tom toms needs as they are....as you say he doesnt drive so youl have to do it and if anything did happen *which im sure it wont* youd be stuck and it may present problems for you..

tough one really, what does your oh say have you spoken to him about it?

They are coming down for a day and a night, but he still wants to spend more time with them - he is only a baby and not really used to not living at home yet!

he is really good about it and backed down, but I know it is what he wants. but i think you guys reinforced my feelings even more. There is no resaon why they cant stay here, we live in a lovely country area with loads of great places to visit. it is perfect for them to have a weekend away or something.

Thanks

I would let him go, but I would stay...your situation is quite different and I certainly wouldnt feel comfortable leaving if I were you, especially if its past the 35 week point.
My OH tries to drag me to ALL of his triathalons and half marathons EVERY weekend, some of them 2 hours away (including the one today)... The fool just doesnt understand !!

Haha! Im so grumpy its not even funny!! I laid in bed all day yesterday watching the Sopranos and you had to see the evil look that I got every time Mr. Man came in...I cant blame him though, Im usually very active, but Ive slowed down LOTS in the last few days...
