Baby Heartbeat

Hello ladies,

This has been bugging me since wed so i thought i'd ask you guys for reassurance.

I had my MW appt on wednesday afternoon and everything was fine. My blood results were finally back and my iron levels were excellent (apparently).

The only thing that was noticably different was my girls' heartbeat. She is usually around 140 bpm. The appt before her heartrate was 144 bpm but this appt her heartrate was only 120. It sounded a lot slower than normal.

Is this normal or should i worry? It's just making me worried about her because my midwife never explains anything and my little girl just seems to be a lot slower in general these days.

Thanks for reading, i am probably being silly

She was probably sleeping

Did you have your appointment at a different time than usual? Either way, babies vary quite a lot in HR (or my babies have).

I used to see the Doc in the mid morning and it would be around 150, now I see him in the mid afternoon and it's in the low 130's.

I dont know the answer hun but

I know Juniors hearbeat varies a lot, so it might just be that they've taken it when your LO was more relaxed or not wriggling as much.

when they write it down, do they just write a singular beats per min number? My midwife always writes a range because (apparently) if a baby is happy it's heartbeat will change a lot. Like, when your baby's HB is being tracked on the ward, it changes every second (my baby's ranged between 120 and 168!). So maybe your midwife is just writing down the lowest number or something?

I'm not sure what she writes down, she never expains anything. I'm only ever with her for 5 mins tops for the whole appt. I'm sure she knows what she's doing i just don't feel very reassured by her. All of the readings she has written down have been 140+ 'cept for the last one.

Thanks for the reassurance girls. Maybe she was just sleeping or something and i am being paranoid!! Sorry

At my 34 week appointment Tuesday, my girl's HB was "120-130" and I asked if that was okay because it was lower than I'm used to. I was told anything over 110 is great. I normally have an afternoon appointment but had an early morning one this time.

Dont worry on my last ultrasound my girls rate was quite lower that it normally was I think it went from 148 at 20 week scan to 134 at 26 week scan the tech said it was normal. Believe me if there was concerne (sorry for spelling) they would have said something

Definately don't think there's anything to be concerned about cause your midwife would have said so. My LO's heartbeat is always listened to at appointments but the doppler doesn't have a display so they never count it, it's always recorded as just fetal heart heard. xx
