3rd Tri blood work


Hey girls, crashing your board till i make it here next week!!

Just a quick question - at my appointment the other day, midwife said they will take bloods when i go for my next appointment. (I'll be 29 weeks then) - what are these for???

I know they definately test iron levels, but apart from that, I don't remember.

I had GTT at 28 weeks too. They also tested my thyroid but thats cos I have underactive so it may just be Glucose tolerance for you girls.

I didn't have a glucose test. Apparently some places don't do it if you're not at risk..

no idea. mine too blood for a glucose test at about 27 weeks. at my 29 week appointment i didnt give blood. may do next time though - its all routine so i wouldnt worry. the more they take the more they're checking which is good.

they do a full blood count (so looking for iron levels and I guess some other stuff) and also they checked for some antibodies with me. They probably did the minimum they had to with me so I think that'll be what everyone gets! My iron levels were low so I got prescribed some hefty iron tablets and have to have my blood leeched again at 34 weeks. Oh how I am looking forward to it!

I never had a glucose test either. Only bloodsa Ive had done in third tri were for iron levels

At 28 weeks, they did a full blood panel, glucose test and one for the Rh factor. I'm Rh negative so I also got a shot.

They did my glucose screening (for gestational diabetes) and checked my iron levels when I had my appointment last week
