Well, I had my final doctor's appointment today and we discussed induction or c-section for awhile. The doctor is very concerned about a vaginal birth and the risks it poses since my baby is 4,000 grams or 8 lbs. 12 oz. and still technically could grown even more. She did mention the possible tearing, but she also mentioned that my pelvic floor could possibly be destroyed. She also mentioned the baby's injuries; which are unbelievably scary. It is possible that I have inherited my mother's genes (a small pelvis) as when she had me, I could not progress through her pelvis; she went 14 hours in labor; only to end up having an emergency c-section and I was only 7 lbs. 4 oz. My doctor said they try to want to avoid that kind of situation (the labor and then emergency c-section). So I have chosen to have an elective section which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14. I'll be reporting at 6:30 and the surgery is at 8:30am.
I am nervous, but I was nervous when I thought I would have her vaginally. So I guess, I'd be feeling like this either way! I know I'm in good hands with my doctor, just hate the idea of having surgery. I'll keep you guys updated as Samanatha is my text buddy and we'll let her know as soon as we're in recovery.
Now my only question is; what should I do this weekend? Haha!
But even if you are nervous, which I would be, at least you dont have all the waiting and wondering. You can make the most of every minute with your OH before the LO arrives. i agree with aqua, do loads of special things together and relish the time!
