36 Week Appt

Just got back from it. I got to avoid the butt-wipe Strep test. NOT for good reason though...I had to have a urine culture last week cause of sugar and protien in it...and it came back positive for the StrepB...so I have to have the IV antibiotics as soon as my water breaks...JOY. I was hoping to avoid an IV at all costs. My iron came back REALLY low so they're making me take iron supplements, no matter how sick they make me..nice. She is finally head down, hopefully she'll stay that way! I am now on weekly visits. Only 30 days left! Oh..and urine came out perfect today.

Good to hear your appointment went well! Don't worry about the IV, you probably will not even feel it go in at the time!

Sorry about the GBS, and iron, but sounds like they've got it well under control!

Thanks y'all. I'm not concerned about having the IV really...cept that I'm allergic to the tubing they use so I get a NASTY red rash up my whole arm for two weeks and I'm allergic to the tape (ALL of them) that they use (really the adhesive on it) and it bubbles up my skin and pretty much...'melts' it off so I'll have NO skin on the back of my hand for a week...it BURNS.

Oh dear...I have never heard of anyone getting that before from an IV. Can they somehow give you something so that your arm doesn't break out?

Can't they just try to secure it with Coban?

I'ts not like you'll try to pull it out...

I don't know if they'd use coban...not sure if it would bother me too. Pretty much everything does. LOL...I might try to pull it out...I've done it before! They gave me an IV in the ER last year for a wicked migraine and the drugs gave me an anxiety attack and I tried pulling the IV...it was itching and burning up my WHOLE arm and they used the stupid adhesive over already raw skin (had an IV a few days prior due to surgery so I'd had the bubbly-raw skin). Jackasses, LOL.

Take your own Coban in there, and maybe test it out first to see if you have a reaction. My poor mother is allergic to the adhesive as well.

Woo hoo to weekly visits and her being head down!!

Maybe if you split the iron tables take a half in the morning and half at lunch?
