Advice from personal experiences please?

At 31 weeks my baby measured 33 by miwife, at 33weeks she measured 34, and now at 35 weeks she is measuring 39 weeks by midwife!! I have an appointment to see obstetrician about this, but its not until Friday, can anybody tell me if I am eligible for a cesarean if she continues to measure so big, I was a big baby, and my sister also aswell as the babies father so Im losing sleep over this!!! Thanks xx

I always measured 3cm ahead of dates and delivered a 7lbs 12oz baby on friday at 39 weeks. My consultant was not overly concerned and said fundal height was less accurate after 35 or so weeks. Not sure if this is relevant to you. Try not to worry too much.

You don't just have a baby in your tummy, there's fluid and placenta too.

Don't worry about 'measuring big' or about having a big baby. Your body is designed to birth. Weight estimates are very innacurate at this stage unless one has access to very high tech equipment (normal ultrasounds aren't even that accurate. They can be off as much as 20-30%).

Maybe you have a lot of fluid, or maybe the way baby is laying is causing you to measure a little bigger.

Don't worry about it! Unless there are other symptoms or complications (GD or something else) you have no idea why you're measuring big.

I am no experience but wanted to wish you good luck for friday. They do tend to offer c-sections for large babies, if that is the case for you. But from reading very similiar threads, measuring large doesnt always mean large.

Apparently fundal height measurement isn't very accurate after 35 weeks as coccyx said and like Margerle said scans aren't always accurate and there could be several reasons to measure big. Try not to worry too much! Everything's going to be fine

My doc thought I might need a c-section because my LO has been measuring big all along (men on both sides of the family are 6ft plus). After my 36 week scan though she said I should be able to deliver naturally as baby is in the perfect position and is already low down so looks like he will fit through.

Funny thing she asked me was my shoe size! Apparently people with size 3/4 feet are the ones that struggle to deliver naturally.

I measured large at about 34 weeks, was sent off for a growth scan, and baby was exactly on the average line, where he has remained.

Try not to worry too much

I had a c-section due to my doctor saying that my little girl was going to be 10lbs. She was born 8lbs10oz. I was measuring correct until about 36 weeks, I measured 38, and 37 I measured 39, 38 was 40. I had a biophysical profile done at 37ish weeks, and I had more fluid than normal, so that explained the measuring ahead. My princess was a good sized baby, but I'm sure I could have managed, if anything with an epi. If this is your first baby, they might suggest a c-section, but I would wait and see what the consultant says before thinking ahead too much. Dont worry yourself.

When I was 38 weeks the midwife said my baby was the size of a 42 weeks. I wouldnt worry too much about it, as already mentioned your body is designed to birth. Your body will adapt to whatever size your baby is! The more you worry the more stress you will put on yourself hun. So take it easy!

Big babies run in my family too. the MW's/scans aren't always accurate. My Sister was told her baby would be around 8lbs and a week later she delivered a 10lb 4oz baby, She's only little too. My mum was told also told a 8lb baby with my brother and he was born a couple of days later at 10lb exactly. They both delievered naturally with no complications x
