The deal with kick counts is that as pregnant mommies we get to know when our babies are most active. So the idea is, to count the active kicks when we know them to be most active. 10 kicks per hour or two.
I know my LO is most active in the afternoon about 3-4:00 so that's when I do my kick counts. If she's having a lazy day she has another active time about 7:00 in the evening. I try another kick count then. If I still can't get her to meet the 10 kicks in 1 or 2 hours, then the idea is to call a MW or doc, or go in and get checked.
Generally speaking, my LO is active 4-5 times a day. Just for my own piece of mind I kinda keep track of the number of movements and just try to make sure shes' moving quite a bit during her active phase. If I'm really worried, I drink something caffinated or sugary (and very cold) and lay on my left side. This tends to help her get moving
