As some of you know oxsarahxo sadly lost her baby girl Jessica Charlotte Reay hours after giving birth. We are arranging a star to be named after Jessica and a lantern for her resting place from all of us. We also thought it would be nice to make a contribution to Sarah & Matt so they can use it towards flower arrangements, head stone or resting place arrangements. If you would like to contibute please PM me for details. I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey Coz,
I was induced and I can tell you it really wasn't that bad.
They break your waters first and then see if you start getting contractions naturally. You are allowed to walk then.
If your contractions are very weak, they will start you on a pitocin drip to artificially induce them.
If you are considering an epidural I suggest you take it very early on. |

I like the idea of a morning induction so your partner can be there. The trouble with an evening induction is that your partner has to leave during the night (unless you are in active labour - past 4cm I think) so you could end up spending a possible painful latent phase on your own until visiting hours permit your partner back in! Is there anyone you could call - your midwife or labour ward - to see what their procedure is for induction.
We'll be thinking of you. Keep us updated | hiya my mw told me that i have to go in thursday 8th for induction but just to phone the hospital at 7.30am to see if theres enough beds and thats all she said so i hope there is enough beds for me xxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I N D U C T I O N. . . . . Im being induced in 2 days because my blood acid levels are high luckily its on my due date tho.
Basically they will most probably give you PROSTIN GEL which a midwife will insert, like a pessary around your cervix. You will then be monitored (to keep an eye on ur little ones heartbeat n movements)....
Anyways one dose of prostin may not do it so you may require two doses, second one is given around 6 hours after the first.
ADDITIONALLY:::::: artificial rupture of membranes (breakin waters) may be required, where a midwife or doctor will break the membrane sac surrounding your baby...this is thought to bring on contractions.
ADDITIONAL TO THAT:::::::: Syntocin infusion (artificial hormone)
a drip might be inserted into your arm to start or strengthen your contractions...but this is usually done after ur waters have broken.
Sorry to go on...but they are the methods. Hope it helps. x | | | | Status: Offline
